SGBC Seminar: Designing for Health and Climate

SGBC Seminar: Designing for Health and Climate

Indoor environmental quality has become a defining consideration in the design and operation of sustainable buildings. In Singapore's hot-humid climate, maintaining healthy indoor environments while optimising cooling performance requires a balanced approach that considers not only HVAC systems but also the building envelope and the materials that shape indoor spaces. As Singapore pushes towards its "80-80-80 in 2030" decarbonisation targets, building owners, developers, and design professionals are increasingly seeking integrated solutions that enhance both indoor environmental quality and operational performance.

This SGBC Seminar, supported by SGBC Member Knauf Insulation Singapore Pte Ltd, brings together industry experts to examine how building design in tropical climates can support healthier, more comfortable and energy-efficient indoor environments. Knauf Insulation will delve into the critical role of the thermal envelope in reducing heat gain and cooling demand, the impact of material selection on indoor air quality, and the importance of balancing insulation, airtightness, ventilation and dehumidification to deliver high-performing buildings suited to Singapore's climate. GreenA Consultants will explore these principles through real-world case studies of some of Singapore's most innovative green buildings, demonstrating how integrated design can deliver measurable outcomes for both energy performance and occupant health.
