As 2024 draws to a close, it's remarkable how swiftly the year has passed. Globally, we've navigated a complex landscape of challenges, including wars, geopolitical tensions, and disruptions to global supply chains. The 'China Plus One' strategy has gained prominence, while inflation and climate change-exacerbated natural disasters have added layers of complexity.
Despite these headwinds, we've witnessed a gradual recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourism rates have rebounded, and many employees have returned to their offices. However, the pandemic has also ushered in a new era of flexible working arrangements and remote work options. Amidst this uncertainty, facility managers played a vital role in ensuring business continuity and public health. As buildings required enhanced security, sanitization, and occupancy control measures, facility managers rose to the challenge, demonstrating their value in today's fast-changing world.
This shift underscores the growing importance of facility managers in driving business resilience, employee well-being, and operational efficiency. As we look to the future, it's clear that the role of facility managers will continue to evolve, driving innovation and excellence in the built environment.
As we welcome 2025, Singapore will celebrate a significant milestone – its 60th year of independence. I'm excited to share two important announcements that will make this year even more special for SIFMA.
Firstly, we'll be celebrating SG60 and SIFMA's 5th year anniversary in August 2025, during our Facility Management Expert Summit. This will be a major celebration with numerous activities lined up, and we look forward to sharing this special moment with our members and partners. Secondly, I'm proud to announce that SIFMA is collaborating with National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) to create meaningful societal impact. By aligning our efforts with purposeful and impactful initiatives, we aim to inspire positive change and champion sustainable practices.
Through our partnership with NVPC, we'll promote a culture of giving and social responsibility among our members. The Company of Good Recognition System will honour organisations committed to purpose, showcasing their efforts to inspire others to do good and grow together.
We invite all our FM companies to join us in this effort to create a better society. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
As we step into 2025, I wish you all a year filled with hope, optimism, and success. May we face the future with confidence, resilience, and a commitment to creating a brighter tomorrow.
Blessed New Year!
