Energy and Carbon Management for Non-Energy Managers
This course is designed to equip non-energy professionals (Facility Managers, Corporate Decision-Makers, and Operations Staff) with foundational knowledge in energy and carbon management. It provides a clear, contextual understanding of climate change, sustainability principles, energy systems, and practical strategies for emissions reduction.
Participants will analyse energy and carbon data, evaluate sustainability interventions, as well as contribute to decision-making aligned with national targets like the Singapore Green Plan 2030, Energy Efficiency Fund (E2F), and Green Mark Certification. These topics will be covered through case studies, hands-on workshops, and interactive discussions. They will develop cross-functional literacy in energy management, carbon accounting, and sustainable operations, effectively engaging sustainability and decarbonisation efforts within their organisations, upon completion.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe key climate science principles and environmental risks affecting the built environment.
- Identify major sources of energy use and carbon emissions within building operations and facilities.
- Differentiate between various sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives, such as Green Mark and carbon credits.
- Apply lifecycle thinking to assess the environmental impact of project development and operation decisions.
- Interpret carbon accounting data and reporting requirements relevant to Singapore’s sustainability frameworks.
- Develop action plans or recommendations to improve energy performance and reduce emissions in workplaces.
