Certified Facilities Management Expert (CFME)

WHAT IS A CERTIFIED FM EXPERT?
A Certified FM Expert is an individual who has been assessed to have the requisite skill sets and competences that meet or exceed the national/industry standards and quality of a FM practitioner.
NORMAL TRACK (TIER 1 TO TIER 6)
The normal track accreditation is divided into the degree and non-degree pathways. Tier 1 to 3 requires a minimum Diploma in Built Environment (BE)-related qualification, Tier 4 & Tier 5 requires a minimum 'N' level qualification, while Tier 6 requires a minimum 'PSLE' level qualification to qualify for the accreditation scheme.

RECOGNISED PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) TRACK FOR TIER 5 & 6
The RPL track is a special track for experienced practitioners who do not have formal educational qualifications, which will only be available for application within the first year of the scheme.
The RPL track accreditation is valid for two years and must be renewed every two years using the same criteria as the normal track. If a CFME accredited FM practitioner wishes to upgrade to a higher tier, they must meet the normal track criteria and be referred by a higher tier accredited CFME.
RENEWAL OF ACCREDITATION STATUS
The accreditation schemes are valid for a period of two years and must be renewed every two years for the accreditation status to remain accredited. For renewal, CFME must acquire the required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. Tier 1 to 3 requires 15 CPD points per year, Tier 4 & 5 requires 8 CPD points per year, while Tier 6 requires 4 CPD points per year. Renewal fee applies. Upon renewal, excess CPD points attained up to the expiration date will be carried over to the renewed term for 1 cycle only.

APPLICATION CRITERIA
Tiers 1 and 2 would require the submission of a report and the completion of an interview panel with the accreditation committee's assigned assessors. The report submission and interview would be used to assess the CFME applicant's understanding of the required competencies:


Tiers 3 to Tier 6 would require the completion of a report and a MCQ assessment. The report submission and MCQ assessment would be used to assess the CFME applicant's understanding of the required competencies.
