Overview

The Association was formerly known as the International Facility Management Association (Singapore Chapter) registered with the Registry of Societies, Singapore on 1 August 2001. It served to represent facility management professionals, look after their interests, promote and develop facility management (FM) as a fulfilling and rewarding career.

In February 2018, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) was tasked to spearhead efforts in transforming the FM sector under the Real Estate Industry Transformation Map (RE-ITM). In support of BCA’s efforts to uplift the FM sector, the Association was renamed as Singapore International Facility Management Association (SIFMA) and amended its constitution to accept corporate memberships. This enabled the Association to better represent the FM sector and serve the industry by amassing more support from both the FM professionals and FM companies.

With the expanded membership strength, SIFMA aims to create more awareness, promote technology adoption and develop and advance FM as a recognised profession; and truly represent and be the voice of the FM industry in Singapore.

In 2019, SIFMA in partnership with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) launched the Consortium Operation & Technology Roadmap (COTR) as part of the effort to enable a future-ready FM sector. The COTR comprises more than 50 technology solutions charted to improve service delivery for FM. A key outcome of the COTR is the development and adoption of advanced technology solutions, which enable integrated and data-driven predictive services. This roadmap was developed with the support from BCA, Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG).

SIFMA works closely with the BCA and industry partners on the localisation of accreditation schemes for the FM sector in Singapore, aligning it to the ITM. SIFMA also conducts webinars, targeted career fairs, training courses, industrial visits, and works on several FM-related collaborations with relevant stakeholders, including industry partners and government agencies.
